The Meaning Behind MamaBare
Why “MamaBare” and not “Mama Bear”?
When I started this brand, “Mama Bear” was actually already taken (no surprise!). But “MamaBare” is no typo. It was most certainly intentional. I still wanted to preserve the phonetic meaning of “mama bear,” a symbol of a loving, fierce, strong, and protective mother. But “bare” lands another way. It symbolizes another part of my journey.
Only a few months after my baby girl was born, as a new mom still healing from a complicated pregnancy, I was left with a difficult choice: walk away from her father due to his alcoholism, or try to heal our broken family. I loved him deeply, but I needed to protect us while he worked on himself. I chose to live apart with my baby girl while we tried to heal. But not everything was in my control. Our family’s future felt uncertain, and I found myself working full time and raising a baby alone, which terrified me.
In that season, I poured myself into keeping a smile on her face, protecting her innocence and her heart, and making sure she never felt alone and always felt loved—even on the days when I felt deeply alone myself.
The word “bare” symbolizes how life felt during this period—stripped down, raw, honest, and extremely vulnerable. Starting a new business in a new field was also scary but exciting. But this was also when I leaned into my faith and found my strength in Jesus, who said: “You are the light of the world… let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:14–16) Jesus’ words reminded me that even in a dark world, we’re called to shine and be a light for others in our lives.
MamaBare is my promise: to guard my daughter’s heart as long as I can, and to encourage other mamas to keep looking for the light in their own stories. It is also my way of shining positivity, encouragement, and hope through the products I offer. This brand is for anyone who’s ever felt bare, but refuses to give up on hope.
Welcome to the MamaBare family!
